- How do I join? You can just turn up to the track the evening you wish to take part, please come with a parent or guardian the first time. Completing the registration form before coming will make the registration process quicker and get you out on the track!
- Are parents allowed to stay? Parents are welcome to stay for the session, 5.00-6.30, however we do not have seating or shelter. We ask that parents do not take any pictures or videos of the athletes during training. - Are parents allowed to leave? Yes, but please be back in time to collect your athlete at 6.30, the University training starts straight after our session and we need to clear the track for them. Also please be aware that Edgbaston Park Road is a busy road and it might be most suitable to accompany your athlete across it. - What should athletes bring with them? All athletes need appropriate footwear, this would be a running shoe or football astroboots. Fashion trainers are less appropriate for doing athletics. If an athlete has spikes, or specialist throwing footwear feel free to bring these along, but they are not required. Athletes must be appropriately dressed for the weather, better to be overdressed than under, especially in the winter months! Please also bring a drink - ideally water or squash. - I have concerns about my child's age, disability or health, should they attend the academy? We will strive for an inclusive academy, if your child has a disability or health problem please contact us prior to training to discuss it. We will probably suggest that you stay on site, at least initially, to offer guidance. Our training will be aimed at school year 7 and upwards, but we are open to accepting younger athletes if it is appropriate. - Does my child have to attend every week? No, we are offering a "pay as you go" service. However the progression in intensity and skill level of training sessions will increase through the year, a regularly attending athlete would get the most out of the coaching. - My child competes for a club, can they still attend? Yes, we welcome all athletes. Our registration form invites you to say what other activities you already do - this will allow us to avoid duplication in your training or over training. We would encourage you to let your club coach know that you are attending the academy so they can account for it in your training load. - My child is new to athletics, is this the right thing for them? Absolutely, we welcome athletes of all abilities and design our session to be suitable for beginners and more experienced athletes. - How much does it cost? Our standard price is £5 for each 90 min session. Please get in contact with us if your child is eligible for pupil premium.
